What is "IDENTITY" and why should you "CAPTURE" yours?

Identity is a combination of color schemes, designs, words, etc., that a firm, business, or individual employs to make a visual statement about itself and to communicate its business philosophy. It is an enduring symbol of how a firm, small business, or individual views itself, how it wishes to be viewed by others, and how others recognize and remember it. Your identity is "out there" sensory-experience conveyed by things such as a logo, a name, a slogan, stationery, uniforms, a building, and marketing and advertising schemes. Identity is either strong or weak (not positive, negative, or neutral like an image) and is more or less permanent unless changed deliberately.

With this said the most important part of your identity when it is related to marketing, and advertising is that your identity is either weak or strong. This means that people either know your brand or not. Striving for a positive image, which all companies should, does not mean you will automatically have a strong identity. You must take steps to build your brand or image. If you do not work hard, get your name out there, and label your brand you will not have a strong identity. As stated your identity is permanent, unless YOU decide to change it. By using positive marketing and advertising methods, and having a reputable product you can build a strong identity, and have a successful brand.

Capturing your identity makes sure that you present your brand in a positive manner. Putting your brand out into the world is a big step for any business. “Hoping and Praying” for a strong identity does not work. You must make sure that you control what is said about your brand. You need to make sure that the correct message is getting to the public.
